broken spoon
Broken Spoon is a unique Chef-to-Table (or takeout!) culinary fusion experience in downtown Franklin, New Hampshire. Combining restaurant creator Miriam Kovacs’ Hungarian, Jewish and Sri Lankan roots, as well as her passion for making food that is both healthy and delicious, Broken Spoon is open with the mission of feeding your soul. The menu features selections from ramen noodle soups to sumptuous steamed buns, all inspired by the flavors from Miriam’s Jewish-Asian kitchen and culinary cravings.
The name Broken Spoon comes from the impression it made in Miriam’s childhood: as a first-generation American, the wooden spoon was often a tool for discipline, used so often that it would weaken and eventually snap. The wooden spoon made another appearance in culinary school when her mentor, Elizabeth Briggs, demanded students put away the rubber spatula and use their wooden spoon. Composed of organic materials, the wooden spoon aids in the transfer of energy to food. It’s the ultimate tool found in kitchens and homes around the world, it’s a symbol of love, and helps bring together a big, hearty bowl of noodz.
